Editorial policy

Our guides are written and maintained by the PassportRenewalPhoto Editorial Team. This page explains how we make sure they are accurate and useful.

Sources

Rules, fees and processing times come from official sources first, mainly the U.S. Department of State at travel.state.gov. Every guide lists the sources it relies on. Prices of private services are taken from each provider’s own website and marked with the date we checked them.

Fact-checking and updates

  • Every guide shows the date it was last checked against its sources.
  • We review all guides at least every six months, and immediately when the State Department announces a change.
  • Specifications such as photo size and file limits are kept in one place and shown live in our tables, so a correction updates every page at once.

Corrections

If you find an error, contact us. We fix confirmed errors as soon as possible and update the checked date.

Our sister service and sponsors

PassportRenewalPhoto is run by the team behind IDPhotoly. Our guides link to IDPhotoly as one way to get a compliant photo, and our comparisons always say so. We compare it using the same criteria as every other option and also explain the free ways to get a photo.

Sponsored placements are always labelled “Sponsored” or “Partner”, use sponsored links and never change what a guide says. We do not accept sponsors that imitate government agencies or promise guaranteed approval.

What we do not do

  • We do not give legal advice and cannot see or change any application.
  • We do not publish fake reviews, invented statistics or made-up experts.
